Izmir Economics Congress Center
The First Izmir Economics Congress, held on February 17, 1923, was a historical milestone shaping Turkiye’s economic future. Led by Mustafa Kemal Ataturk and attended by 1,135 delegates, the congress discussed the new Republic’s economic foundations.
The original building, later damaged beyond use, was reconstructed by the Izmir Governorship. At its entrance, a special 2.4 x 20-meter Iznik tile panel, produced by our company, reflects Turkey’s War of Independence and the achievements of the early Republic in miniature style.
On the left, Turkish soldiers heroically fighting on seven fronts in World War I are depicted through the seven-headed dragon symbolizing the enemy; on the right, the colorful phoenix rising from its ashes symbolizes the rebirth of the Turkish nation and the hopeful rise of the Republic.
